Salmon Enhancement in Nootka Sound is extremely important and without the help of the Nootka Sound Watershed Society and its members, volunteers and donations made by companies and individuals, we wouldn't have a recreational or commercial fishery in Nootka Sound.

Nootka Sound Watershed Society (NSWS)

The Nootka Sound Watershed Society is a non-profit society that was registered in February 2004. The NSWS has active members from the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation, sport fishing industry, municipal government representatives, commercial fishing industry, aquaculture industry, forest industry and local residents. Even though the NSWS has a lot of support, they are always looking for volunteers and new members. If you live in the Gold River area or nearby, we highly recommend getting involved. Becoming a member and taking an active role in the organization is a great way to meet people in your community and help salmon enhancement in Nootka Sound. If you have children, this is also a great way to introduce them to the importance of salmon enhancement.
